Since 2013, Sauti za Busara has been bringing different people together to celebrate original African music. The organizers of the festival have announced that next year’s edition will hold in Stone Town, Zanzibar, Tanzania from 7th – 10th of February, 2019.
From a pool of 500 submissions, several artists from the continent have been booked for forty-four (44) performance in next year’s edition.
The festival is set to feature among several others, performance by Rajab Suleiman and Kithara (Zanzibar), Tune Recreation Committee (South Africa), Ithrene (Algeria), Hoba Hoba Spirit (Morocco), M’Toro Chamou (Mayotte/Reunion), Tausi Women’s Taarab (Zanzibar), Mkubwa na Wanawe Crew (Tanzania), Damian Soul (Tanzania), Trio Kazanchis +2 (Ethiopia/Switzerland), Sofaz ( Reunion), Mokoomba (Zimbabwe), Afrigo Band (Uganda), Fid Q (Tanzania), Fadhilee Itulya (Kenya), Ifrikya Spirit (Algeria), Dago Roots (Reunion), Lydol (Cameroun), S Kide and Wakupeti Band (Tanzania), Faith Mussa (Malawi), Wamwiduka Band (Tanzania) and Shamsi Music (Kenya),.
While talking to Music in Africa, the festival director, Yusuf Mahmoud said, “Our festival is one of very few events insisting that all performing artists are musically connected to Africa and that they perform live. So, the Movers and Shakers sessions ensure that art professionals meet to share a unique and magical experience of African music.”
